Protocol & Procedures

•WeTip maintains a full staff of approximately 45 operators that staff and operate the dedicated, toll-free WeTip anonymous Crime hot lines. Informants can submit a tip by dialing one of the five crime hotlines that WeTip has made available to the public for the receipt of tips and other information by students, staff and others providing such reports and tips in response to the Speak Up Campaign.

Eighteen phone lines are dedicated to the WeTip Crime-Fighting Campaign on each line, the operators answer with the words, "Hello. This is the WeTip Crime Hotline. Do not give your name or identify yourself."

•The WeTip Hotline is staffed 365 days per year, 24 hours a day at the WeTip call center by trained professional operators, including accessible Spanish speaking operators.

•In addition, WeTip shall offer the opportunity to receive all major crime hotline tips via the Internet at, the WeTip Web site.

•After a tip is taken by the operator, it is submitted to the appropriate law enforcement agencies. In the case of multiple crimes on one tip the information may be submitted to several different agencies. The primary agency will be designated on the tip.

•A law enforcement case disposition form is included with the tip when sent to Law Enforcement. It is imperative to WeTip's existence that the disposition form be returned with the appropriate information regarding the case with a rating as to how much the tip helped the investigation.

•Rewards are paid anonymously based upon arrest and conviction. (see rewards)
